Key Club

Key Club is the oldest and largest world-wide service program for high school students. As a part of the Kiwanis International family, our club is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Today, Key Club exists on more than 5,000 high school campuses, primarily in the United States and Canada. The South Western High School chapter was chartered in May of 1963. Annually, the club completes about 5,000 service hours and has been recognized as a distinguished club by the state key club district.

Members of the club complete a minimum of 50 service hours per year and participate in service projects that benefit our school and community. Projects include blood drives, litter cleanups, volunteer assistants for PTA/PTO and other local community groups, and many small projects in and around our school.

Students seeking to join the club should enroll during their annual enrollment period in May. Prospective members must submit an application and dues deposit in order to be admitted to the club. Once students have joined, they will remain in the club as long as they regularly attend meetings and complete their service hour benchmarks throughout the year. Students must re-apply yearly for membership in the club in subsequent school years.

Community organizations seeking key club volunteers to assist with projects should submit a request to the club president and club secretary by sending an email to both [email protected] and [email protected].
