Business Education

The Business Education department at South Western High School is proud to offer a variety of courses and programs designed to meet the needs and interests of students. In order to keep pace with industry, the business department undergoes changes on a yearly basis. Courses teaching personal financial literacy skills including concepts such as budgeting, investing, insurance, credit, and personal taxes are offered, as well as courses in Accounting, Marketing, Microsoft Office, Entrepreneurship, Business Management, and our Step Ahead program that is available to seniors. Students have the opportunity to receive college credit in two of our course offerings including Accounting II and Entrepreneurship.

All course offerings provide real world skills that will transfer well into post secondary education as well as the workforce and military. In addition to providing a variety of courses, students have the opportunity to join FBLA. This academic organization provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom and real world knowledge in a competitive environment. Students are able to take on leadership roles, compete at regional, state, and national levels, and receive scholarships for college.
